Please read: SPanel.in is a guide focused on SPanel, so we apply the same scoring to SPanel as to every other panel and show the numbers. Scores are editorial and based on vendor documentation, public pricing and published reviews, not hands-on lab tests. Scores within about 0.2 points are effectively tied. Panels like Ajenti, RunCloud and Coolify are not ranked because they target different jobs, such as single-server administration, hosted management or app deployment.
Control panel FAQ
What is the best web hosting control panel?
It depends on the job. cPanel has the biggest ecosystem and is the most familiar, Plesk is the choice for Windows and agencies, and DirectAdmin is the usual pick for low-cost servers. Free panels such as HestiaCP, ISPConfig and CloudPanel suit self-hosters.
Is a free control panel good enough?
For one or a few sites you manage yourself, often yes. Free panels usually mean you handle updates, hardening and support yourself, and some have a mixed security record, so check recent advisories first.
Which control panel is the cheapest?
Open-source panels such as HestiaCP, ISPConfig and CloudPanel cost nothing. Among paid panels, DirectAdmin starts at about $5 a month and Webuzo at about $2.50, while cPanel starts at $29.99 a month for a single account.
How did you rank these panels?
We score each panel out of 10 on features and ecosystem, ease of use, value, security and maintenance, and performance, then weight those scores. Scores are our editorial judgement based on vendor documentation, public pricing and published reviews, not lab benchmarks. Close scores are effectively ties.
Is VestaCP still safe to use?
We do not recommend it for new servers. Development has largely stalled. HestiaCP is the actively maintained fork and a better starting point.
Does SPanel.in favour SPanel?
SPanel.in is a guide focused on SPanel, so we score SPanel with the same criteria as every other panel and show the scores openly. SPanel.in is independent and is not owned, operated, sponsored or endorsed by SPanel or Scala Hosting LLC.
